Dr Williams

Dr Williams grew up on the Gold Coast and completed a Bachelor of Science (Biomedical Science) at the University of Queensland. He then moved back to the Gold Coast to complete his medical degree at Griffith University, graduating with distinction.

He gained broad experience during his 5 years as a junior surgeon across the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Cairns. He then completed 5 years of accredited specialist training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in both Victoria and Queensland, before gaining Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS, Plastics).

Fellowship training

Now a qualified plastic surgeon, Dr Williams decided to deepen his skills by undertaking subspecialty training in Europe. These experiences allowed him to refine his skills under internationally recognised leaders.

Together, these fellowships strengthened Dr Williams’ capacity to manage complex cases, combining reconstructive precision with a breadth of aesthetic surgical training.

Plastic surgery is a principle-based specialty. It involves understanding and operating on bone, cartilage, nerves and soft tissue. These principles apply across the body, which is why the skills required in complex hand surgery translate to surgery of the breast and face.

Dr Williams has lectured at Griffith University for more than a decade, teaching medical students and mentoring future surgeons.

He has published widely in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national and international conferences. His research interests include peripheral nerve surgery, wrist arthroscopy, reconstructive hand surgery, implant safety, and patient-reported measures in plastic surgery.

Treating Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)

In addition to his reconstructive and aesthetic surgical practice, Dr Williams has a special interest in the assessment and management of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) in both adults and children.

CRPS is a complex and often debilitating condition that may develop after injury, surgery, or trauma, and is characterised by persistent pain that is disproportionate to the initial event. Symptoms can include ongoing pain, swelling, sensory changes, altered skin colour or temperature, and reduced limb function. Early diagnosis and appropriate management are essential to improving outcomes.

Dr Williams adopts an individualised, multidisciplinary approach to CRPS care, working closely with patients, families, pain specialists, and allied health professionals. His focus is on clear communication, evidence-based treatment, and supporting functional recovery and quality of life across all age groups.
